I think we need to define what "performing schools" are. If you take it to the degree of South Korea where the kids do all test well, but they are in tutoring class at night... not sleeping enough... wearing pillows on their arms so they can sleep during class during the day... and experiencing high suicide rates because of the pressure than I think we create a problem. We need to create school cultures that nurture that natural curiosity in kids, drive them to become life learners, and keep the focus on learning rather than on grades. I fear standardized tests could be counter-productive to this, but I also see the value in some testing along the way to objectively see how schools are doingby katie
