I agree with you that, at this point in time, teacher's unions are quite problematic. I'm a person who works in the field of social justice, and I generally support unionized labor. BUT it seems like the current teachers unions are dysfunctional and don't have the best interest of our kids in mind. I actually asked two teachers at our charter school how they felt about being non-union. They said that after working at failing district schools with lots of unmotivated, uncaring teachers who couldn't be fired, they specifically sought out jobs at non-union charters. These awesome educators were tired of being held back by all the uncaring teachers they had to work with at union schools.by HF654321
