It's misleading to lump all charter schools and all district schools together with statements like "charters earn exactly the same results as district school." There are excellent charter and non-charter schools operating within and we should give leaders with a proven track record of operating great schools the opportunity to expand and serve more kids. For example, KIPP LA Prep was just awarded a National Blue Ribbon Award by the US Secretary of Education (one of only two schools in LAUSD to win this award and the only middle school). KIPP LA Prep operated in East LA with 98%+ children of color and 90%+ on Free or Reduced Lunch Programs. These schools should be expanded.by loren
