You're lumping all charters together. Several of the the best performing public schools in LA are charters. Their results are public. Their board meetings are public. They and their management organizations are non-profit. They also have to answer to the LAUSD school board, which demands strict reporting and accountability, whom can revoke their charters if they aren't performing well. Many of the highest performing charter schools in LA bring in diverse boards from diverse public and private sectors who bring tremendous operational experience and help in many ways. The focus needs to be on learning from the best performing schools, and repeating what is working.
