Thanks for your response, Heidi. I'd respond to two issues : First, there's a huge difference between schools chartered by LAUSD and charter schools serving students within the LAUSD catchment area. Many students within that geographic area, knowingly or not, are indeed part of for-profit enterprises. Second, just because charters are required to open their board meetings to the public doesn't mean that they're publicised or accessible. Example - choose any charter from CDE's school list, check their website and see if they list their next board meeting, location and agenda. I realise this is a pro-charter website, but that doesn't mean we have to accept everything charter as golden.
