While I agree we need to focus on teacher training and development, that doesn't mean we don't also need to evaluate teachers. We don't focus on medical school and then not evaluate doctors based on their outcomes in the operating room. We have to do both. It is tricky for sure... so we must be thoughtful and you can't compare teachers on a "one size fits all" score card that compares teachers across schools. One teacher may teach in a high poverty school or may have many English Language Learners... But we all remember back to high school right? We knew who the good teachers and bad teachers were. If we empower school leaders and let them drive evaluations we will be better off.
